We believe that prayer is a vital part of church life and ministry- someone once said that God does nothing except in answer to prayer! Our prayer dimension is coordinated and led by our prayer champion, Wendy Walker.
We currently have many regular and occasional opportunities/initiatives for prayer. These are...
1) Sunday Morning at 10am before our Sunday service.
Each week a group gather in the Main Hall by the stage at 10am before our 10:30am service to seek God to move in our gathering. This includes where possible, anyone involved in the service, although all are welcome to join in. We bellieve God has done some powerful things among us as a direct result of this.
2) Thursday nights at 7:30pm
These are weekly Prayer meetings and from 2026 follow the following pattern...
Week One: Soaking prayer
A form of contemplative Christian prayer focused on resting in God's presence rather than petitioning for requests. It involves a quiet, meditative state of stillness, often accompanied by gentle worship music, to invite the Holy Spirit and to be open to God's will and peace. The practice aims to "soak" in the spiritual atmosphere through a posture of rest and silent expectation.
Week Two:‘In their shoes’ prayer
Using our God-given imagination, as we pray for a person/persons/situation, imagine that you are ‘standing in their shoes’. Entering in to travailing prayer, which is a more intense prayer from within, stemming from the deep inner gut; a place where words are exchanged for groans.
Week Three: Warfare prayer
A warfare prayer is the believer's active stand in Christ's triumph, rooted in God's Word, propelled by faith, and exercised in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Using Jesus’ model in Mark 9:25-29
25 And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” 26 And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. 28 And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” 29 And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.”
Week Four: Praise and Worship
Praise and worship prayer is a heartfelt expression of adoration, thanks, and focus on God's character, involving acknowledging His holiness, power, and love, confessing need, and asking for His presence to fill your life, often through songs, scripture, or personal words, to draw closer to Him. It's about giving Him your best, reflecting His glory, and surrendering your whole being to His purposes, acknowledging Him as Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer.
3) Our Fortnightly 'Be Connected' Prayer sessions, 2pm on Thursday afternoons
This is about depth and exploring creating and immersive prayer together. Using tools from the 24/7 Prayer Toolkit such as the Lectio Divina.
4) Encounter Evenings
These are opportunities to push deeper and invite the Holy Spirit to meet with us. They include worship, intercession but arise from a desire to see God reveal Himself more powerfully in our lives.
5) Prayer Days
These are arranged from time to time and follow a theme. They are drop in sessions where people can journey through stages and listen to what God is saying to them.
6) Weeks of Prayer and Fasting
Usually 3-4 times a year with an intercession focus.
Special prayer events also happen all the time, including whole prayer-days or 24 hour prayer sessions.
God has met with us in some meaningful ways in each of these prayer gatherings together!
